The Institute for Native Pacific Education and Culture (INPEACE) sought to address the teacher shortage and retention issue in the Leeward, or Wai’anae, Coast (a rural community in O’ahu) by founding the Ka Lama Education Academy. Ka Lama is a Grow-Your-Own program that supports and empowers Native Hawaiian community members in their pursuit to become high-quality teachers in their home communities through college support, mentorship, and professional training.

Summary
INPEACE entered the Professional Development process wanting to set up a data tracking program that answered the following questions:
1. What is the tenure of individuals who have gone through the Ka Lama Education Academy in their communities?
2. Are Ka Lama participants still employed in the education system or supporting the community in the education field?
